As a modern chorus dance troupe, the Kansas City Canaries are dedicated not only to preserving the traditions of the chorus troupes, but acknowledging the lineage that generations of chorus members in years past have created for us. It is imperative to us as a team that we recognize and honor those that came before us, both the trailblazers and those who had to hide who they were from the public eye.

The Kansas City Canaries honor those who made this dance a safe and inclusive environment while acknowledging that though progress has been made, the dance world is still segregated and often uninclusive towards our BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities. Many of our team members are a part of the rich tapestries of Kansas City’s beautiful and diverse communities, and we are proud to keep our team a safe and inclusive place to be a chorus girl.
