Chorus Girl Must-Haves

If you're considering stepping onto the stage as a showgirl or chorus girl, let me tell you - being prepared is key! In this blog post, we dive into essential tools for your Chorus Girl Backstage Toolkit. From quick costume fixes to last-minute touch-ups, having the right items at your fingertips can make all the difference in your performance.

Below are some of the necessities I keep in my Backstage Toolbox that keep me prepared for anything!

Band-Aids

When it comes to a long day of performances, Band-Aids are an absolute essential. My go-to choice is fabric adhesive Band-Aids without a doubt. They provide a seamless look and offer incredible durability, especially when facing the challenges of sweat and movement throughout the day.

Fake Eyelashes

Fake eyelashes are a must-have for the Kansas City Canaries performers. Don't be intimidated by applying them – with some practice, it gets easier. Duo provides a black-drying glue that allows you to add eyeliner afterwards. Remember to let the glue dry slightly before placing the lashes on your lash line for better adherence. If you want a fuss-free application, check out the Kiss Magnetic eyeliner and lash set.

Red Lipstick

When it comes to rocking a bold red lip, the Kansas City Canaries know the importance of a lipstick that doesn't budge during a performance. As a team, we always have a vibrant red and a sultry dark shade ready to match the mood of the show. For a long-lasting option, my personal favorite is the "Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink liquid Lipstick" in Exhilarator. Trust me, this lippy will stick with you through the entire show, no smudging in sight!

Safety Pins

Safety pins should be deemed your superhero sidekick when facing costume emergencies, like instantaneous rips or unexpected pop-offs right before showtime. These pint-sized lifesavers swoop in to rescue you from wardrobe malfunctions with ease, making them a must-have in your emergency kit. Whether it's a rebellious zipper or a stubborn button misbehaving, trust the trusty safety pin to save the day promptly. Keep a stash handy, because in the world of fashion emergencies, these unassuming little pins come out on top every time!

Hairspray

When it comes to hairstyling, having a strong hairspray in your arsenal is an absolute must-do. Don't gamble with your locks by using just any brand out there – you need a hairspray that keeps your hair in place without risking its health. The Bed Head Extreme Hold is my personal go-to choice, as it delivers an intense hold without leaving my hair feeling dried out. Remember, a good hairspray is not a one-size-fits-all deal; find one that suits your hair type and style to ensure a flawless finish every time.

Double-stick Tape

When it comes to double stick tape, remember this: It's not always a must, but boy, it sure is a handy little secret weapon to have in your stash, trust me! For costumes that love to play peekaboo with your bust or for activities that involve some energetic bouncing around, this tiny tape rolls up its sleeves and gets the job done. So, if you want that extra assurance and a wardrobe malfunction-free performance, keep a secret stash of double stick tape ready to save the day!

Bobby Pins

Make sure your vintage hairdo stays flawless by being armed with extra bobby pins. After setting your locks in a timeless style or under a wig, give them the ultimate test with a headshake. Remember, the wavy side of the bobby pin belongs facing downward against your scalp for a secure hold. To amp up the stability, crisscross those bobby pins in an “x” formation. With this extra tip up your sleeve, your retro look will stay intact no matter what the day throws your way.
